283/356: Restaurant Lumière

Dinner with dad.

It took me to restaurant Lumière which conveniently was also a first. As always my dad showed a good hand in picking a restaurant. The food was really really good. The restaurant mainly serves French food with some local variations.

I usually don't like to take pictures from food in restaurants but I had to have something for the blog right? So here it is.. my delicious dessert. No way one can go wrong with mousse au chocolat.

242/356: Hotel Bristol Zürich

Last Saturday was the first time I stayed in a Hotel in the middle of Zurich.

I have stayed at a hotel at the airport a few times but never in the city itself. I was in Zurich for a Show on Saturday evening and decided to make a whole weekend out of it because of a few reason. The first reason was that I went with friend and she has never been shown around Zurich. So I decided to incorporate that into the weekend. The second reason was, that I was going to head to my brothers to watch the Superbowl on Sunday.

I stayed at the Hotel Bristol which is very close to the main train station. This was also the reason I picked it. Everything in the city is within walking distance from the hotel. I really liked it for the location and the price was quite fair as well. Otherwise it is nothing to write home about. It was clean and the staff was friendly but nothing special.

Anyhow, if you are looking for a cheapish Hotel in the middle of the city, I can really recommend it.

187/356: CakeFriends

Last Sunday I went to a place called Cakefriends. It's a little café in Zürich. It has been there even before I left Zürich so I was a little surprised that I had never heard of it before. Even more so after I had a muffin at that place. What a delicious little thing. Now to keep myself from going back to Zürich just for that place.

130/356: Fleetwood Mac Live

In the last few weeks I feel like one highlight is followed by the next only to lead to the one after that. This last Sunday I met up with my dad for the Fleetwood Mac concert at Hallenstadion in Zurich. What an excellent gig that was!!

Besides seeing Fleetwood Mac live for the first time, it also happened to be the first concert that only had seats. There were was no "standing area". I was quite surprised by this as I have never seen it like this. Still, this did nothing to make the experience less epic. It was one of those concerts that was not about a big show but about the music. The band now exists for 37 years and you could really hear that they know what they are doing. I had quite high expectations because I just heard a live album a few weeks ago. They still blew me away!

It was also very impressing that they played for over two and a half hours. I never expected this. These guys are in their sixties! They rocked very hard and the time just blew past. If I ever get the chance, I will go see them again and I can recommend them to anyone that is into rock music.

Now follow a few shitty pictures (by me) and a few OK ones (not by me).

121/356: Train Bistro

Hotels without working internet make a bloggers life hard. I was in Berlin this last weekend and the hotel didn't get the WIFI up and running all weekend. This made me sad and you with a post to read.

Anyhow, on my way to Berlin I made the journey from Bern to Zurich in the train's bistro wagon. It is hard to believe but I am quite sure this is the first time that I ever sat and consumed (a beer of course) something in the bistro wagon. Nothing big to say about doing that, just kinda surprised that it took me 30 years to get to this point.

I might repeat this. Having a chat with a beer in hand seems to be a good way to spend an hour. Also I noticed that contrary to the other wagons, people talk with each other here.

88/356: The Beer tasting Continues: Zipfer

I went to visit a friend in Zurich. We then went to a park and had a beer. I had a Zipfer. It was alright. That is all.

Well we actually also went to a nice Thai restaurant that I have never been but I didn't bother to take pictures so I decided to go with the common theme of beer tasting. Tomorrow, if all goes according to plan, it is back to hiking. Just a small 6h tour... I can already feel my feet hurt.

Thanks for stopping by.

72/356: Robbie Williams Live

Robbie Williams live is one of those things which I would have not done of my own accord but am still glad that I got to do it.

I got the ticket from my parents for my birthday a few months back. My parents, one of my brothers, his girlfriend, one of my parents the neighbors and me made up the our little group. After a tasty dinner at Rosso we headed to the Stadium and got there a good 30min before Robbie got on stage.

The concert started a bit slow but then picked up and Robbie really gave it his all. He had a lot of energy and made sure it was a show to remember. I have never owned any of his Cd's nor listened to any of his songs on purpose, I really enjoyed the show. The stage had a few nice surprises. He sure hasn't got any self confidence issues ;)

We stayed pretty far back so my pictures suck (better phone/camera coming in October). So I went ahead and stole some from a friend of mine that seemed to be a little closer to the stage.

A great evening with the family. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thanks Marie-Louise and yes that is a giant Robbie head.
Thanks again Marie-Louise, and that lucky lady is barbara from Bern, she grabbed his ass, on multiple instances.
That was where I was standing, quite a bit farther away. It pays to have good eyes ;). You see that giant head? Robbie again. You see that spotlight, yeah that's Robbie up there just before he started the gig.
 All hail my awesome camera
Thanks for reading. Something completely else in a few minutes.

66/356: 2 Akt Lovemobile @ Streetparade Zürich

After the living room concert on Friday, I had another big highlight on Saturday. In the middle of last week my brother sent me a text asking if I would like to experience something unforgettable. Since my project has made me a lot more spontaneous, I said yes without asking what it was about.

As it turned out he got me a ticket to one of the lovemobiles at the Streetparade in Zürich. You ask what the Streetparade is? Essentially it is a free EDM music festival. The main attractions are 28 lovemobiles that make their way along the edge of the lake. All the lovemobiles play a different kind of electronic dance music. There is something for every taste.
They take about four hours each to get from the starting point to end. Beside the lovemobiles there are numerous stages and uncounted big parties in the clubs all over the city. The Streetparade usually attracts about one million visitors. It is one of those events that I would recommend everybody to experience at least once in their live. Even if you don't like that kind of music.

I have been to the Streetparade on numerous occasions but never on a lovemobile. I regret now that I have never done it. It was such a great experience to be on the lovemobile. I had such an awesome time. We were on the second lovemobile to make it's way through the crowd. I don't know what difference that made but the crowd was so energetic. So much positive energy.

Was there a down side you ask? Only that now I have to wait a whole year to do it again.

 My ride for the afternoon
 look at that crowd!
 the view from the lovemobile.
Great party in a great setting.
 more of the crowd.
 and then some.
 one of the other lovemobiles.
thanks bro! Unforgettable day!
